Hello students…
We are living in the 21st Century, where there is a multiplicity of courses on offer and multiple career choices. I try to identify the areas of interest of the students, his strengths and do a goal setting exercise. A plan is drawn up to meet those goals.
Students and parents are often confused. Choices are made, with incomplete information. In some cases, students may choose a career, which looks glamorous from the outside but the reality is not so. In others a career choice is made on peer or parental pressure. The student’s aptitude and interest is in a particular subject but may take another due to peer or parental pressure and fare badly.
So choosing a career is a very complex process these days. There are many aspirants every course and thousand of applicants for every job. A career is not just a job to earn a salary. The job becomes a ‘career’ with the opportunity for progress.
The choice of right career is the most crucial decision of your lifetime. There are examples galore where academically brilliant students have failed miserably in their careers simply because they opted for the wrong profession and average students doing very well because they made the “right decisions”. In today’s dynamic world where job security is no more, choosing the correct career has become an imperative.
“A career should be a matter of planned and educated choice and not chance”
