Stir The Scientist Within You!
Stir the scientist within you and get familiar with the mysteries
surrounding us. Uncover the enticing world beyond the actual world where we
live in.
http://www.extremescience.com takes you into an awesome journey of science with astonishing facts behind simple
stuff in our daily lives on a wide range of topics
As you scratch the surface and dig deeper into the specific topics,
they are interspersed with awesome statistics and absolutely fabulous photographs
as well.
I found the section on ‘Future of Technology’ as the most
interesting. It contains really well laid out information on fascinating topics
like Nanoworld, NASA Space Sciences, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Superconductors,
Maglev Supersonic trains, Fiber optics. Do check out the gallery of microscopic
images related to nanotechnology. If you are really a technology buff, this is
a must see!
If you are a lover of Mother Nature around you – there are
sections dedicated to Earth Science, Creatures and even Maps. These in turn
contain sections on general information as well as interesting facts like Wettest Place,
Lowest Elevation, etc. The section on Creatures has some splendid photographs as
well, apart from the tidbits like ‘oldest living thing’, ‘Largest Living
Organism’. You also have a section dedicated to Space Science and covers stuff like
how earth came into existence and all about our solar system. No doubt, this
also contains some stunning visuals.
Then there are topics dedicated to weather and its extremities and
how it affects us all from day to day. For the ultimate inscrutable
matter –
TIME – there is a section on time as well. It tries to answer that ever
present
question – What is time?
There are link to other relevant resources on a topic in
every section and also a whole section committed to general resource only. It
has some cool links to scientific resources like carbon 14 calculator, trigonometric
tables, Human Genome Project, Human Body Atlas, etc.
The site has been in existence since 1998 and has won many
awards. Worth a visit… but do remember to dig beneath the surface of your favorite
topic here otherwise you will miss the real stuff which in fact makes this site
really exciting!
